Winter Series Title Climed By Baptise! 

Last Saturday saw the conclusion of the Pro Winter Series with the individual grand final. Luke Baptise had 41 points to claim victory, and the £100 first prize, by 1 point from a cluster of players. I would like to thank all who took part in the series and lets make it bigger and better next year!

Are you at the club this Easter?

The sides match sheets are up and I would encourage all new members to put their name down for this event. The official opening of the season match gives you an ideal opportunity to meet new faces and enjoy the evening get together for food drinks and some good banter.


We are ready for the season to start, are you? 

During the last week we have installed the new ball washer and ball dispenser at The Academy. The new dispenser operates drops of 25, 50 and 100 balls using separate token sizes. 

With the ground conditions much improved we have been able to cut the outfield and I am sure you will agree, its starting to look like the golf season again with beautiful stripped grass popping up everywhere! 

We have removed the ball limits of 50 per customer as the ground has firmed up and plugged balls are no longer causing us collection difficulties.


Are you ready for the season? 

Here are a few checks that you may want to consider ahead of the season - 

- When playing, is your golf ball doing what you want it to do? 
- Are your grips in good condition? 
- Do you need any help with your equipment? 
- Is your trolley and battery working properly? 
- Are your shoes ok for spikes? 
- Have you thought about the very popular waterproof golf bags? 
- Is your distance device doing what you need it to do? 
- How are you for balls tees and gloves? 
- Are your waterproofs waterproof? 
- Have you moved over to lithium battery yet?

If you have answered no to any of the above, please pop by and see us as we will help you with solid professional advice and assistance.

Further news at the Academy, where we will see a new member of staff joining my team as a teaching professional. After many years as part of the team at Preston Golf Club, James Dowling has decided to move to pastures new. Following the departure of James I'm pleased to introduce Gary Edge, a PGA Professional with a wealth of experience. 

Gary is a passionate teacher and keen student of the game, having worked and studied with some great teachers including Denis Pugh, John Jacobs, Butch Harman and David Leadbetter. Gary has worked with elite players, but the bulk of his teaching is with club golfers, helping them to improve not only their technique but also their understanding of the swing. 

Together we have exciting plans for the Academy, starting with the modernisation of the Teaching Room, to include the most up to date Video Analysis and Club Fitting systems. To complete the package we also have the Tommy Putting lab, - all in all we have the experience, knowledge and the technology to help you reach your potential as a golfer. 

We aim to have the Teaching Room ready for you to use by mid April, in the meantime Gary will be running an introductory offer of FREE 15 minute golf lessons. These will be for members only, and will be available until from the Thursday, 14 April. 

To take advantage of Gary's offer, simply enter your name on the sheet in the shop and be on the range at your allotted time. Further tuition packages from Gary will also be available for you to purchase. So start the season with a visit to the Teaching Room, this could be the start of your best season ever!

Demo Day Updates 

As in previous years we are hosting a number of company demo events. These are ideal opportunity to spend some time with brand experts and assess equipment choices between your current and new ranges. 
All of our demo days this year will be appointment only. This is a request of all companies as they want the focus of attention to be on you and not a range full of testers. 

Event 1 - Titleist Vokey SM6 fitting event - Wednesday, 30 March - 3-7pm (few spots remaining) 
Event 2 - Callaway - Wednesday, 6 April - 4-8pm (Full) 
Event 3 - Cobra - Tuesday, 21 June - 4-8pm (book now)

We want to grow this programme and it's a fab way of introducing your child and their friends to golf.
