It has been very pleasing to hear your positive comments on my new website and newsletter. I ran a competition alongside my first 2 newsletters, where all you had to do was fill in a survey ono what you rate to be the most important. Brand, Price or Fit. That has now closes, and I am pleased to say the winner is Mick Lofthouse, who will receive a dozen Srixon balls.
The Open provided us with 4 days of wonderful golf. McIlroy was chased hard by Sergio and Fowler, which added to the excitement over the weekend and ensured that it was no victory parade for Rory!
Nike designed an Open collection of apparel that Rory wore during the tournament and this is available in store now.
Rory drove the ball averaging 327yds against a field average of 282yds. With me being very interested in the launch numbers that deliver such distance, I looked into his stats and found the following:
- Club head Speed 117 mph
- Launch angle 11.9*
- Ball Speed 179mph
- Spin rate 1900rpm
All of which, results in 300yd carry ball flight. These numbers are what provide optimum launch conditions for Rory. Should we increase his spin rate to 3500rpm, he would loose 40yds. This really highlights the effect that the spin rates have on the distance one can drive the ball.
It is worth you checking your numbers with me on Flightscope via my FREE 20 minute launch conditions test. Please book via the professional shop, or by clicking here.
