Thursday Medal winners:
Division 1 Vince Sarsfield, Division 2 Mike Hughes and Division 3 Keith Smalley.
Recently Vince spent some time with me working on his shortgame . Vince realised he needed to improve his "up and down stats" should he want to reduce his handicap. Vince had another problem in that the loft gaps within his wedges were skewed. With modern day wedge lofts being around 45* and sand wedge loft sitting 55* we needed to swap his 52* gap wedge for a 50*. Well done Vince and keep up the good work!
On Saturday in very windy conditions the Healey Trophy was played for and produced some excellent scores. 68 netts from Matt Pallo, Michael Simpson and Paul Rossiter were pipped to the post by an excellent 67 by Alan Lafferty.
The Healy trophy seems to produce the best in Alan as his lowest score in 2013 was also in this event. Alan puts his success down to his fitted strong lofted 3 wood which gives him a penetrating flight off the peg into the wind and the plane changes we applied to his driver swing. However, I think his success on Saturday was down to the wind not affecting him due to his low centre of gravity!
Positive comments regarding my web-site have continued to flow again this week!
Last week I suggested that you could call in the pro shop and discuss your golfing problems with us over a coffee and it has been pleasing to see so many of you popping in and getting some free advice. Keep it coming, we are here to help you get more enjoyment from you golf so feel free to take advantage of this offer.
Festival Week is in full flow and the visitors have been signing in the professional shop. For many this is the first time they have seen the changes to the pro shop and I am so pleased with the response. It would seem like most of our visitors would love this standard of shop at their own clubs.
I have seen more competitors taking time to walk around the shop checking out the merchandise and commenting on the spacious feel and well merchandised stock. They say it all makes the experience so much better.
The shoe wall has gone down a treat since I installed it. Members and visitors are finding their size column, trying on and making the purchase in their own space and no pressure environment. We have the largest selection of golf shoes in the area.
My bestselling putter this year is the Cleveland Smart Square. This face balanced mallet with 2 square alignment aids promotes easy line up at address and superior face stability throughout the stroke.
The copolymer insert enhances feel and sound at impact and promotes a more consistent roll for more predictable distance control.
Cleveland have produced both a heel shafted and centre shafted models which are available from 33 to 35 inches in length.
This week's video for you is all about what a golf pro does when he gets bored of hitting normal shots!

Peter Finch -
We have been busy with the junior summer camps in recent weeks and the kids have made some excellent progress whilst really enjoying the learning process.
With the children back at school in a couple of weeks we are ramping up our efforts to fill the after school JDP classes so if you have a youngster who would like to get into golf, please get in touch. We have some new ideas for the JDP with the inclusion of online learning, progress recording and achievement recognition.
Exciting times ahead for me and the kids and hopefully a flow of youngsters striving towards junior membership at PGC.
