Meet my new PGA assistant professional

I am delighted to announce the arrival of Oliver to the professional team at Preston GC.

Oliver is a fully qualified PGA Professional with a number of years of experience under his belt. Having qualified via the University of Birmingham, he then moved to Grimsby Golf Club as head assistant.

For the last 18 months, Oliver has been acting head pro at Grimsby.

Oliver is very passionate about working within the game and can’t wait to get going. Oliver loves coaching golfers of all levels, group lessons, enjoys playing with members and is an expert club fitter.

Please pop by and see Oliver, I'm sure he'd love to meet you!

Competition news

Lombard Regional finals

Yesterday Sean and I competed in the Lombard Trophy regional final at Sandiway Golf Club. It was great to play with Sean and represent Preston Golf Club in such a prestigious tournament.

With an all-expenses paid trip to San Lorenzo for the winners, and the chance to win the grand finale, we were pretty excited!

We shot 66 and finished top 10 with the eventual winners shooting 62. It was certainly a story of what could have been......... Although 66 was a respectable score, neither of us were really on our game.

Next year we will run a Lombard qualifier at Preston, so be sure to enter and get the opportunity of a great day out with your professional.

Preston golf club - Pro-Am 2018

Having finished 2nd at last years event, Barkers Ssanyong went one better and claimed the title this year with a team consisting of Phil Barker, Anthony Holden, Bradley Ogden and professional, Andy Palmer.

Phil Barker of Barkers Ssanyong is a great supporter of the club and is one of our sponsors for the Festival Week later this year.

The professionals individual event was shared by 3 players, Adam Stone (Team – Stone Electrical), John Devlin (Team – Thermac 1) and Tim Rich (Team – www.taxexpert.co.uk) with a score of 71.

PING trip to the national fitting centre

If you are thinking about a new set of Ping irons, join me on the 25th July for my next Ping trip. This is a wonderful experience and a must for Ping customers.

Just ahead of this day out, Ping will launch 2 new iron models and they will be available to test for our visit on the 25th.

A tight affair

It was a tight affair on the European Tour this week with a playoff hole deciding who took home the Irish Open and it was the Scotsman Russell Knox who defeated Ryan Fox of New Zealand. Knox holed two superb putts on the 18th green at Ballyliffin GC to claim his second European Tour victory. Can you tell the difference? Click here to view.
