The Open 2018

What a week

I am sure like me, many of you were glued to the television over the weekend watching The Open.

Carnoustie offered up 4 very different days of weather conditions and proved to be a stern test. The wind on the final day offered up a new test and certainly made the front 9 a different proposition.

With 6 holes to go the leaderboard was bunched and a winner certainly wasn’t clear.

How did I feel about Tiger being back in the mix? For me, I was delighted to see him challenging for another Open Championship but equally happy that he fell just short. It keeps the comeback story bubbling along and the interest strong.

Tiger switched to a new putter recently and we have it in store and many of you have been giving it try.

As for our champion golfer of the year, Molinari the first Italian to win a major. He was one of the favourites going into the week on the back of recent form and a well-deserved champion.

Lofts and lies

Are you clubs the correct lie angle for you?

Lie angle can play a huge part in the directional value of your golf shot.

Many of you may not understand the value of lie angle? My staff and I would love to talk you through this. A 5 minute test in the simulator would give us the starting point we need. So if you want to know more, feel free to pop by and ask a member of the team.

Adjustments to your clubs may be needed, if this is the case we can do this in house using our loft and lie machine.

We test for FREE and charge £25 for an iron/wedge set adjustment.

Ash hits the Jackpot in 2018

Some folk never have one let alone 2 in 2 weeks!

Ash Patel is our very own hole in one specialist striking gold twice in 2 weeks.

The first one came at the tough 18th hole at Lancaster Golf Club and then followed this up with another at the 4th at Carlisle Golf Club.

Congratulations on this amazing achievement Ash!

Danger!

Are you the type of golfer who considers the danger ahead of you and plans accordingly, or do you pull a driver from the bag on every par-4 and par-5 without a blink? If you’re the latter then you need to read on.

Consider the danger
You hear pros talk a lot about the ‘smart shot’ in their post-round interviews. If you’re on the tee and there’s a bunker, ditch or other hazard around the distance that your driver or fairway wood normally flies, then make sure you change club to one that takes the trouble out of play, as displayed in this graphic. While you’ll have a slightly longer shot to the green, you’ll greatly reduce the chance of a big number.

Know your numbers
Of course, key to all of this is knowing how far each of your woods carries. If you’re looking to add more distance and control to your game, come and test the Cleveland Launcher HB driver, fairway and hybrid.
