New simulator winter golf league 2018-19

As winter approaches I would like to offer you the chance to enter our first ever indoor winter league. Short days, dark nights, cold and wet, well don’t worry as you can keep your competitive edge this winter with our new event.

2019 Indoor Winter League

Our Winter League is an indoor league running throughout the winter from October until it's completion by March 31st. You and your partner will play 10 courses over winter to fight your way to the top of the league table.

What is the format?

The format is Pairs better ball stableford.

Full Handicap with a Maximum of 28 for Men. 36 for Ladies.

You score as many points as you can over the winter to make the Grand Final Play-off held in April 2019.

The top 4 teams will battle out in the Play-Off to become eventual winners.

How do I book and when can I play?

If you join up for October 1st you have 6 months to play 10 x 9 hole events. You can book these at your leisure via our staff in the Professional Shop. You are given 90 Minutes per course.

You can play anytime except Tuesday (pm) and Friday evenings (subject to Academy opening times)

Are there prizes available?

Our Winter League is sponsored, with a prizefund of over £1,000.00

I'm not a Preston Golf Club member, can I still enter?

Yes, this League is open to members from any golf club. All that we ask is that you have an official handicap.

How much is it and how do I enter?

The entry cost is £49 per person. You can enter at any point, even after the league has started. You must enter as a pair and can do so by calling us on 01524 852000, emailing me at prestongolfpro@hotmail.co.uk.

This is sure to be a popular tournament so book early.

Team success for Preston golf club

Congratulations to our senior section who for the first time in 36 years have won the Ribble Valley Seniors League.

This is a fantastic result for all involved but a special mention to Jeremy Harries (Hon Sec) and Chris Sumner (Seniors Captain)

Also, to our Fylde Amateur Scratch Team who competed in the Challenge Bowl at Fairhaven Golf Club. Preston won against a very strong list of clubs.

2018 was our first year in the Fylde league and It has certainly been a great addition to the offering for our low men to compete in.

A big thank you to Chris Preston for his hardwork an efficiant organisation.

Preston festival week

Our festival week was a huge success once again. Visitors from around the country attended and it was great to hear the compliments about what we have at Preston.

From the course, bar and catering, the pro shop and range to the organisation by Micheal Goldfarb and his helpers we all got the seal of approval from our visitors.

Junior coaching – 6 week sessions starting next week

Oliver Hart PGA professional, has made a super impact with the youngsters. Following the success of the summer camps, oliver now heads up the Autumn term 6 week programme which starts next week.

All roads lead to Paris…

The finale of the Made in Denmark tournament was an all-English affair, with a four-way play-off between Lee Westwood, Jonathan ‘Jigger’ Thomson, Steven Brown and eventual winner Matt Wallace. The tournament was played at the home course of Ryder Cup Captain, Thomas Bjorn, and the event has become a firm favourite with both players and fans alike. Due to the European Tour tournament rescheduling that will take place next year, the Made in Denmark will move to the week of BMW PGA at Wentworth and hopes to attract even more big names.

The automatic picks for Europe’s Ryder Cup team were also decided in Denmark, but I’m sure you are all now talking about the Captain’s wildcard picks that took place on Wednesday. The American team still have one pick remaining with the finale of the FedExCup unfolding over the next few weeks and all eyes on East Lake for the next 10-million-dollar man!
