So with Sundays play ahead we had a tightly packed field, all except Salim Bux who shot the round of his life with a 60 nett. The big question, can he hold it together over 18 holes on Sunday? |
| President John, hosted family and friends for afternoon tea on Sunday afternoon and this was enjoyed by all
|
|
Sunday was Salim’s day, he held his nerve and proceeded to play another superb round of golf, shooting nett 67 and resulting in a winning score of 127. Congratulations to Salim on a performance that was exceptional! |
The Final standings 1st - Bux, Salim - 60 + 67 = 127 2nd - Cowperthwaite, Tony - 67 + 66 = 133 3rd - Ogle, Keith - 68 + 66 = 134 Scores shot by Tony and Keith would normally have been more than enough to take the win so a big well done to you guys too. And to all of the other prize winners and competitors, well done! Finally, John Mayor our President who has PGC running through his veins. You hosted a super weekend, congratulations to you and your family, we hope you had a ball! |
Lancashire V Northumberland Preston will host a very prestigious event this weekend. The Northern counties league match between Lancashire and Northumberland. Morning foursomes starting at 9.30am followed by 12-afternoon singles matches will determine the winners. This will be a great event to come and watch as some of the north's best amateur golfers battle it out over our great course. |
Fylde Scratch League Champions 2019 Last Wednesday the guys played Royal Lytham in the last match of 2019 league. With the league already in the bag, we were in a comfortable position. This match is the cherry on the cake, anytime you get to play an Open Championship venue it is always special. Playing the course at full length, from the stones is a tough ask against the home team and their local knowledge but we won again and turned over RL in their own back yard. Our low handicap golfers have really enjoyed playing this league, the quality of some of the courses and the high-quality golf is a real plus for PGC and its low men.

New PING Wedges Launched And In Store Now “The Glide 3.0 wedge is a great blend of a players-style design and game-improvement technology. At address, it provides the clean look of a tour-style wedge. We've added some offset based on tour player feedback to provide a more captured look. At the same time, we've increased the perimeter weighting and improved the feel with the softer insert material to ensure golfers have the forgiveness they need to play with confidence on approach shots.” |
PING engineers took a grip-to-grind approach, redesigning every component of the new Glide 3.0 wedges to create a higher-spinning, more forgiving, softer-feeling, lighter overall design. |
Groove Changes The grooves in the lower-lofted wedges (46°, 50° & 52°) are milled with a 20° sidewall and a .005" edge radius for optimal full-shot performance. The higher-lofted versions (54°, 56°, 58° & 60°) are milled to a .004" edge radius with a 28° sidewall to impart more spin, especially around the greens. Mathematics can be a complicated subject with all that pi, algebra and calculus floating around, but there is one simple equation we can all understand: uncomfortable golf shoes = a miserable time for all
|
Let’s break down this equation further The main problem here is that walking on hard ground for four hours/18 holes in the summer months can take its toll on our feet. Blisters and bleeding are common signs that something isn't quite right and the issue will only be exasperated if your golf shoes are worn, cracking or ill-fitting.
|
So, what’s the answer? After running the numbers through our super-computer, we end up with a pair of golf shoes that are designed for comfort, like adidas’ Tour360 XT. It boasts Boost cushioning, which will have you feeling like you’re walking on clouds every step of the way. Why not pop in the shop and try a pair on this summer? |
