Every effort is made to get the course open and fit for play, but a strong issue we have is damage made by golfers not following simple instructions.

Believe it or not, today a member was politely asked, please do not to go on the course without winter wheels on your trolley (a protection measure and one that was published in today's course retrictions). Response – I will pretend I didn’t hear that, I’m going out anyway, they won’t see me.

I find it astonishing, the total disregard and lack of respect when asked to follow some basic course protection measures.

We need to act early so please can members note the following:

Apply winter wheels to your trolley.
Opt to carry if you can.
Adhere to a 20 yard exclusion zone around the greens for all trolleys (HIGH PRIORITY).
Stay on paths where possible.
Repair divots, pitchmarks and use par 3 divot mix.

Introduce a new member and earn yourself £225 with our membership referral programme

It is that time of year when we get more enquires from golfers looking to join us. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP TOO!

Council ask you, the membership, to get behind a membership drive and as a result, earn £225 when you bring a new face to our full membership category.

A new extended membership referral scheme is to be introduced in which existing members’ may benefit for three years provided that the new member they have referred, is in the category of ‘Full’ membership and continues to maintain their membership each year.

For a member referring someone for full membership, they receive an incentive over a three year period to be paid to the member’s bar card

- Year 1 - £100
- Year 2 - £75 provided the new member re-joins
- Year 3 - £50 again provided the new member re-joins

Are you part of the 70%?

The popularity of Distance Measuring Devices (DMDs) has been growing for several years as golfers seek as much help as possible whilst out on the course. Our recent survey indicated that over 70% of you choose to use one, so we thought we'd highlight one of our favourites in this week's newsletter.

GPS devices are not just about reading front, middle and back yardages. Well, in some cases they are, but not when it comes to Garmin’s Approach S40 watch.

As we know, the course can be played several different ways and the Approach S40 displays distances to hazards and doglegs at a glance, which will prove vital when trying to take your course management to the next level.

In fact, at this time of the year when a wet course is a regular occurrence, knowing your yardages has never been more important. This is where the S40 comes into its own as it allows you to alter the pin's position on your watch so you can get highly accurate distances.

A new ball from Titleist

It's not uncommon for brands to launch their products as the greatest thing since sliced bread, however, if you like to play a ball that has an ultra-soft feel and doesn't shirk its responsibilities off the tee or around the green, then the brand new TruFeel could well make a justified claim to that title.

Who says you can't have everything all at once?
