Tips of The Week As the season approaches, I will be presenting you with a tip or two each week. A simple thought for you to apply to your games. Short game – Starting with the short-range chip shot. Common mistakes – most golfers I see stand too wide, too far from the ball and don’t have the shaft of the club upright enough. Look at the picture below and copy the set up you see which includes correctness of the pre-mentioned elements of how to set for a chip. Try it, you will be surprised at the results. Full Swing – Often golfers have a poor impact position.
Many golfers I speak to tell me that they think returning to the start position at impact is a good thing. I can assure you, it is not!
Here you can see Nigel approaching impact in two very different ways. The top image shows poor use of the low line (knees) midline (hips) and high line (chest). The lower image shows a change to knee position (low line) forcing a change to the midline (hips) and resulting in an improved chest position (high line).
Try recreating this look in your swing and impact position and you will see the benefit straight away. I would love it if you report back to me your findings, to hear how you get on and if it helps your game. Good luck and I wish you well!
