Katie Crewdson shot a super 42 points on Tuesday in the Toyota Cup. What a great score and a two shot reduction to boot! Ten days earlier Katie had some time with Simon and it clearly made a difference.

Age 15

I must say a huge congrats to James Nelson, aged just 15, he shot 74 gross and was tied second in the scratch after round one. James is turning into a great young golfer and deserves a big well done!

Scratch Trophy

The Ben Rice rich run of form continued over the weekend as he tied with James Fletcher in the Scratch Medal played over Saturday and Sunday

James and Ben will play-off in what is sure to be a great tussle between two super players. I may well have a wander round to watch this one!

A mention must go to Steve Holden, leader after round one with 72, he had to work on Sunday and was unable to chase down the title. Excellent golf Steve, well done.

Jubilee Trophy

That extra 10 minutes past closing time on the driving range of an evening clearly made the difference to John Fletcher as he claimed the Jubilee Cup over the weekend. John just missed out on the scratch play-off by one shot and I know how much he would have loved to get that one.

However, what a super score on Sunday John, played over a very tough course set up.

A fantastic performance

Certain rounds make us mere mortals say “Wow!”.

Collin Morikawa had one of those rounds on Sunday. Justin Thomas really should have won the tournament - and when you sink a glorious putt from 50-plus feet for birdie in a playoff it’d be understandable to celebrate as you have - but, as I said, Morikawa had a “Wow!” round.

This was Morikawa's second PGA Tour victory. That might not sound too impressive as a standalone statement, but it's one more than the number of cuts he's missed so far in his youthful career. Just let that sink in for a minute.

Making life easier off the tee

The average golfer will use their driver between 10-13 times per round. That means between 50-75% of holes are relying on that one club for a good start. But how do you ensure you get that good start?
