Westwood and Fitzpatrick taste glory The season-ending DP World Tour Championship lived up to expectations over the weekend, delivering an incredible tournament with the European Tour’s best golfers battling it out until the final hole. In the end, it was Matthew Fitzpatrick who won the event and took home a cool $3 million for a second time, paring his final hole after a nervy bogey at the 17th to win by one. But it wasn’t just a one-off event. The Dubai-based finale also saw the Race to Dubai – the tour’s order of merit - come to a close. For much of the week, it looked as though Patrick Reed would secure the title and be the first American to do so. However, after Fitzpatrick’s blistering start on Sunday, he was in pole position. Yet, come to the 72nd hole, it was a certain Mr Lee Westwood who went on to celebrate his third order of merit title at the age of 47. A fantastic achievement. Maybe his Ryder Cup career isn’t over just yet?
