With the benefits of correctly custom fitted golf clubs being a regular talking point in the Professional shop, I thought it would be a fitting opportunity to put some thoughts your way! Custom fitting brands available for you at Preston Golf Club - The only Club Professional in the area offering so many brands to pick from, including:
Cleveland, Titleist, Cobra, PING, Callaway and our feature brand Mizuno
The 2015 Mizuno range is being received very well at Preston Golf Club. The New DNA Fitting Cart is a great box of tricks to help provide you with the perfectly custom fitted set of irons.
Get an insight into Mizuno DNA by watching this video here.
Just this week we have fitted 3 customers into new sets of the Mizuno JPX 850 Forged Irons.
Mizuno's new material is 30% stronger than its traditional 1025E steel billets - allowing for a thinner face and extreme ball speeds.
The result is an incredible iron that combines Grain Flow Forged precision and feel with the ball speeds of a modern distance iron - unachievable before BORON.
The thinner BORON face is strategically reinforced by a Power Frame cavity - allowing it to flex over a wider area. A shorter top edge to the frame helps maintain the recognisably solid Mizuno feel.
- Free exotic shaft upgrades available on custom fit Mizuno irons and wedges
- Free personalised stamping on your custom fitted wedges from your Mizuno DNA Proffessional
"I'm not good enough to get custom-fit"
This is the refrain of so many golfers who buy their irons off the rack. Convinced their swing inconsistencies override the potential benefits of clubs built just for them, these modest souls don't allow that sometimes the chicken came before the egg. Fitters say the reason a lot of people hit it sideways is because they haven't been custom fit. Trying to figure out the swing with clubs whose length, weight, lie angle, shaft flex or grip size don't match the body encourages players to make unnatural compensations that prevent them from developing proper mechanics.
10 things to do (and not to do) before your next fitting
In the last 10 years, there have been major advancements in both golf equipment and golf equipment fitting technology. Systems such as FlightScope and TrackMan have given fitting professionals the data they need to maximize every golfer's performance, regardless of their skill set or technique.
As a result, a good fitting professional can help just about any golfer make gains in distance, accuracy or both simply by dialing in their equipment. But the process isn't completely foolproof. There are several common, completely avoidable things I've seen golfers do before, during and after a fitting that will compromise their results.
Take note of these 10 things to do (and not to do) before your next fitting, and you'll be on your way to an enjoyable, productive fitting session.

Fitting at Preston
FlightScope Fittings are at the top of the must do list when considering Custom Fitted golf equipment and you can take advantage of this equipment at Preston Golf Club. The principles of the 3D Doppler Tracking Golf Radar
3D Ball Tracking
The two main technological aspects of the FlightScope 3D motion tracking device are its radar technology (very similar to that which is used in the military), and its advanced industrial electronics.
The patented phased array tracking technology that is used in all FlightScope radar units is the most advanced in the industry today.
FlightScope's 3D motion tracking devices are not just about ball measurement; they can also help with your golf swing analysis by measuring 24 variables related to your Ball, Club or Swing, such as:
- Ball Speed
- Vertical Launch Angle
- Horizontal Launch Angle
- Vertical Decent Angle
- Smash Factor
- Spin Rate
- Spin Axis
- Carry Distance
- Total Distance
- Lateral Landing
- Apex Height
- Flight Time
- Shot Dispersion
- Club Speed
- Club Speed Profile
- Club Acceleration Profile
- Face Angle
- Face to Path
- Dynamic Loft
- Angle of Attack ~
- Club Path
- Vertical Swing Plane
- Horizontal Swing Plane
The ball's entire trajectory after it has been launched is also tracked, which means you have exceptionally comprehensive ball measurement information instantly available, helping you to improve your golf swing.
