There was a good turnout for the Four Ball Betterball competition at the weekend. On Saturday the course was playing tough due to the difficult pin positions! In Fourth place with 48 points were Steve Walsh and John Morris closely following Mick Livesey and Chris Higham with 49. Runners up with a solid score of 50 points were Keith Ashcroft and Phil Eaton. The winners with an outstanding score of 54 points were Ian Bryson and Simon Fletcher, well done guys! 

The Sir Tom Finney Memorial trophy was a successful day with 18 teams of 4 taking part in the event in memory of Sir Tom! The main sponsor of the day was Preston North End football club and the charity that benefited from the day was the Space Centre. 

The event raised in excess of £2000 for them and valued funds for PGC. A fantastic day was had by all and a big thank you to Nigel Davey for his efforts in organising and running the day. Leigh Myers, Dave Myers, Paul Eastwood and Gary Snape came out on top with a fantastic team score.

Naoimh McMahon produced a brilliant score of 65 in the ladies competition this Tuesday so I am very pleased with her progress. The latest improvements to her golf include a putting session where we opted for a left below right hand grip, which has improved her putting stroke. We also added a new Ping TR series putter to her bag which has helped with Naoimh's putting. Also, John Mayor was the winner of the Tuesday Stableford with 38 points.

This week, Andrew is away on a golf trip at Carnoustie, playing for the Thursday Quiche organised by Mark Henderson. It will be played over Montrose, Carnoustie Championship, Carnoustie Buddon and Downfield whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery!

We have been busy with the junior summer camps in recent weeks and the kids have made some excellent progress whilst really enjoying the learning process. 


With the children back at school in a couple of weeks we are ramping up our efforts to fill the after school JDP classes so if you have a youngster who would like to get into golf, please get in touch. We have some new ideas for the JDP with the inclusion of online learning, progress recording and achievement recognition. The Junior Development programme will start on the 1st September so give the shop a call to book your child's place on the programme!

Exciting times ahead for me and the kids and hopefully a flow of youngsters striving towards junior membership at PGC.
